If I were ever given the chance to own another 4300-4500 Wurlitzer, I would be more than happy taking it. As with all transistorized devices, you'll notice that some things just have a mind of their own. The high Bb would stick (but that is a mechanical issue). Mine had a strange problem of folding back an octave. If your unit is equipped with an Orbit synthesizer, you may or may not notice some issues. You'll see what I mean when you look at it. As far as other spectratone issues, I would also remove it and clean the contacts down by the motor that get activated by the solenoid.

The spectratone belt may be worn out, but you can get a new one at Puget Sound and I think they are about $25.00 each. Knowing what I know now, I might have put a resistor in series, but that organ is gone, dead, and buried. The current was a little hot on those contacts, and it would literally 'burn' off the gold plating where it would make contact with the bussbar.

The stop that switches Theatre/Cathedral controls a relay (can't remember if it is 12v or 24v). My case may have been an isolated incident, but I have had problems with my spectratone unit. Just go through cleaning the contacts and bussbars and that will clear up most issues. If you unscrew these, you'll notice how each manual can swing up reveling what is underneath it. Once you get the top cover off, you'll see long bolts on each side of the manuals. These organs "peel off" in layers, and are quite easy to maintain. You really just need to get the bulk of corrosion off, and most any contact cleaner (plastic-safe, of course) will get the job done. I don't recommend spending a load on deoxit, unless you can afford it. Plan on spending a good week with a case of Q-tips and some contact cleaner. Wurlitzer used "Cat Whisker" contacts for nearly everything in those organs, and they are usually tarnished black by now. 99.9% of the problems you'll find are from dirty switch contacts.
